Chicken Rolls

Chicken Rolls

Serves 6

  • 12 pieces of Sunbulah Puff Pastry Squares
  • 1 whisked egg
  • 6 slices of thin chicken fillet
  • 1/3 cup pizza sauce + 1 extra table spoon
  • 1 medium sized carrot cut into thin strips
  • 1 medium sized pickle cut into thin strips
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • ¼ teaspoon of black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon of salt (or as per preference)

  • Preparing the chicken rolls: brush each strip of chicken with one tablespoon of pizza sauce then horizontally cut each strip of chicken into 2 slices. Add a strip of smoked meat over each piece of chicken, and then place some of the carrot and pickle strips on the edges. Roll the chicken strip and hold it down with a toothpick.
  • Heat the oil in a medium sized frying pan then cook the chicken rolls in it for 2 minutes on each side.
  • Heat the oven at 200 degrees Celsius (400 degrees Fahrenheit).
  • Remove the toothpicks from the chicken rolls then place the rolls over each piece of puff pastry squares. Roll the edges of the pastry over the chicken and press to seal tightly.
  • Place the pastry-rolled chicken in a smooth-surfaced baking tray and brush the surface of the pastries with egg. Finally, bake them for 10-12 minutes or until they reach a golden color.
